Sale Highlight! 3 7/8" Ohio Slate Bird Effigy. Highly detailed, great history. Pictured! Ohio.

Sale Highlight! Beautifully crafted and highly detailed engravings on this 3 7/8" Slate Bird Effigy. Highly detailed etched feather representations on wings and tail section. Undrilled, great history. Pictured in "The Meuser Book", page 187 as well as the "Archaeological Society of Ohio Magazine", volume 55, #2, page 7, Spring 2005. Also pictured in "Prehistoric American". Once owned by Jim Beckman, it was published that this is "one of the most unique artifacts in the Meuser collection" and "the overall style is more like that of a slate lizard" and "because of the similarities to lizard effigies one can presume this piece probably dates to the late Archaic/Glacial Kame Period". It is very well patinated with no damage. According to Dr. Meuser's catalog, this piece was found 2 miles south of Miamisburg ( Montgomery Co.) Ohio. Ex. Dr. Gordon Meuser #3167/5, Robert Klan, Larry Dillman, Jim Beckman, Scott Yerkes. This is a highly collectible artifact.
